With the Hôtel Concorde, Jan Kleihues has given the heart of Berlin a touch of five-star flair. Walk through the door and you expect to see feather boas and cigarette holders; this is pure homage to the age of the Golden Twenties, an impression of Berlin prevalent throughout the western world at the time. Inside and outside Art Déco breathes splendour. The straight lines of walnut and smoked oak and moon gold on the ceiling are the backdrop for the rooms. They contain furnishings for lobbies, restaurants, bars, rooms, suites and club lounges designed by Jan Kleihues together with Walter Knoll. The architects planned the biomorphic building with a flowing roof on a twisted double cone as the perfect venue for events, exhibitions, restaurants and the new car centre. 280 vehicles can be handed over here daily. Die Architekten planten das biomorphe Gebäude aus fließendem Dach auf gedrehtem Doppelkegel für Veranstaltungen, Ausstellungen, Restaurants und das Neuwagenzentrum. 280 Fahrzeuge können hier täglich übergeben werden. Bewegend bleibt der Raumeindruck innen wie außen durch das stets präsente wellenförmige Dach. It seems that a massive cloud has landed near BMW's company HQ and is now connected to the museum of the Bavarian auto manufacturer by a bridge. The architects planned the biomorphic building with a flowing roof on a twisted double cone as the perfect venue for events, exhibitions, restaurants and the new car centre. 280 vehicles can be handed over here daily. The impression of the room is always moving both inside and out thanks to the dominating wave-shaped roof.
