As an icon of modern design, the FK chair paved the way - years in advance - for one of the most revolutionary trends: the fusion between office and living spaces. The formula to its success was simple: an elegant bucket seat with a minimal silhouette, a floral shape, and a high level of comfort due to excellent leather upholstery. Danish architects Preben Fabricius and Jørgen Kastholm - the name FK comes from the initials of their last names - created it in 1967; it would come to embody Scandinavian design at its best and, over time, to be considered a classic. In 2017 Walter Knoll celebrates the 50th birthday of this classic. For the occasion, we are launching an international art contest. Create an original piece referencing the iconic bucket chair and get the chance to win one.
All contest entries must be submitted in digital format. Be it digital art, photography, video, painting or graphic design – there should be a clear reference to the FK chair. Visual and graphic material of the chair can be downloaded at the bottom of the page. It is however not required to use such material.
