Jan Kleihues at Walter Knoll
Good traditions should be cherished. It was for this reason that Jan Kleihues came to Walter Knoll's showcase event for pioneering architects on July 19 2012. The architect, creator of numerous international urban projects, was the latest in the line-up of acclaimed speakers: In the last few years, Kengo Kuma, Ben van Berkel, and Elke Delugan-Meissl, designed the presentations for Walter Knoll in the Markenland building in Herrenberg.
In the presence of over 200 international guests – including top flight architects from Russia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic, and Switzerland, selected industry trading partners, and leading personalities from business and politics – Jan Kleihues gave an account of what he had created. Detailed descriptions of various different hotel projects testified to his responsible approach to urban architectural integration, and the special efforts he makes to choose the right material and quality of detail.
Working with Walter Knoll, Jan Kleihues developed the Elton range of upholstery – sofas and seats that were designed specially for the Hôtel Concorde in Berlin.
An inspiring evening filled with lively discussion and excellent music.
