adidas Laces, Herzogenaurach, Germany
Home of inspiration: since Adi Dassler made the very first trainers in the washhouse of his parents’ house in 1920, the company adidas has been based in Herzogenaurach in the German region of Franconia. The research and development building with the appropriate name “Laces” has given the company campus “World of Sports” a new, identity-sustaining and creative centre. Interaction, dynamism and transparency – the architecture lives and breathes these values. The walkways, the “laces”, spanning the atrium connect the different wings of the building ensuring efficient access to all office areas as well as providing a communicative and inspiring core. Like something out of a James Bond film, the hub of the adidas world is underground: in “Innovation Valley”, designers, developers, researchers and marketing strategy specialists create the latest shoe and sports clothes trends.
