Tiffany & Co., Tokyo, Japan
A glittering jewellery box: the relationship between jewellery and light was Kengo Kuma’s inspiration for the Tiffany flagship store in Tokyo. Light makes jewellery shine and it is this shine that explains Tiffany’s appeal. Arranged at different angles, the panels made of glass and aluminium refl ect the light, recalling the carefully cut facets of a diamond. The architect made the interior fi nely nuanced and translucent. Precious jewels and the timelessly elegant design of Japanese provenance fascinate in equal measure.
