The Westin Hamburg HafenCity, Germany

In January 2017 one of the most spectacular new buildings in the Hamburg region opened its gates. The Elbphilharmonie concert hall, by architects Herzog & de Meuron, stands 110 metres tall and boasts many eye-catching features, both outside and in. The iconic, reflective shell is already visible, while the distinctive 6,000 square metres of wall and ceiling lining the auditorium have been planned with Japan’s star acoustic technician, Yasuhisa Toyota. The hotel rises to the 20th floor, the top of the building – and has been furnished by Walter Knoll.
