Ayabi Barstool.

Design: Dai Sugasawa.

The perfect complement to the Ayabi Chair: with the same design clarity, this model expands the characteristic design language to include new applications. The chair’s visual lightness allows the beauty of its structure to shine through. Thus, despite its minimalist design, the Ayabi Barstool embodies a sense of security and balance. What makes it special is the interweaving of its elements.

The discipline that must be mastered time and again:

minimalism—as little material as possible, as much as necessary.

Soft, flowing lines, arranged with mathematical precision.

In developing Ayabi, the challenge was to refine the perfect form and bring it to life through craftsmanship. The construction of the wire mesh chair follows organic lines; every point is defined, and every line is based on mathematically precise positions.

Like a crown, the custom-tailored leather strips follow the contour of the chair.

Particular attention has been paid to the chair’s distinctive appearance: by inserting the saddle leather elements into the wire structure, the high-chair’s iconic character emerges. The leather inlays were inspired by the planks of wooden decks on luxury yachts.

Enduring beauty

The corrosion-resistant hybrid chair is designed for both indoor and outdoor use.

Design: Dai Sugasawa

The design was created in collaboration with Dai Sugasawa. The Japanese-born designer draws on nature as a structural framework for his designs, which appeal to both the functional and the emotional. The Ayabi Chair is the result of a five-year development process.
