Designer Profile

Daï Sugasawa

The Japanese-born designer Daï Sugasawa draws his creativity from the power of different cultures.

Daï Sugasawa began his career as a designer for Christophe Pillet, before founding his own studio in Paris in 2010 and working on a freelance basis for Philippe Starck. Sugasawa feels a bond with nature and Asian culture in his work: “My aim is to bring organic elements from nature into our living spaces and to connect us back to our original environment.

In Walter Knoll, Sugasawa found a partner with whom he could bring this idea to life, sharing his understanding of and passion for the value of objects, the finest materials, superb technical knowledge and handcraftsmanship. Together they bring a new lightness to stone in the outcome of their collaboration: Ishino occasional table, offered in three sizes. Each of the organically shaped table surfaces is unique, and varies in structure and color.
