The Plain carpets each shine in an exquisite shade, inspired by a specific landscape and its special light atmosphere, in a way you will only find in Africa. Individual carpet pictures full of naturalness and elegance.
Every carpet is given a name in Swahili, a language that connects many countries in Africa. Each expressive carpet encapsulates a proverb that has been passed down from generation to generation.
Quality
Made with virtually equal proportions of wool from the Tibetan highlands, fine Chinese silk and the yarn of nettle fibers. The ratio: 35% silk, 33% wool and 33% nettle fibers. The high content of silk and nettle gives the Plain carpets a special glossy effect.
Color
Unlike the multicolored Patterned designs, each model has just one color in the more subtle Plain line. This still results in a dynamic image due to the different material compositions in the individual knots. The colors are in a flow from nuance to nuance. The color selection corresponds to our Natural Elegance philosophy: cultured, harmonious colors, shapes and textures – inspired by nature. The natural monochrome shades are carefully dyed by hand.

The Walter Knoll carpets were created together with fabric designer Helmut Scheufele, inspired by the landscapes and colors of Africa. They take their strength from the source of creativity of that continent – translated into timeless knotted works of art.
